It was obvious that Man United needed to strengthen at left back towards the end of last season, but the absolute meltdown from Luke Shaw yesterday just proved that.

He was all over the place, should’ve been sent off and played a big part in most of the goals, so he needs to take a step back and allow someone else to take over for now.

Brandon Williams is a tidy and tenacious player but he’s still raw and doesn’t have consistent quality in the final third, so hopefully a new arrival will allow him to head out on loan.

Alex Telles has been touted as an arrival from Porto for weeks now, and it finally looks like the deal has been confirmed:

He should be an excellent signing because he’s a quality player who is also a leader, and that’s exactly what United need just now.

He’s got excellent delivery so that should help to get the best out of Edinson Cavani by putting balls into the box, while he’s also a clear upgrade on Luke Shaw.

It’s annoying for the fans because this could’ve been sorted weeks ago and he would be settled by now, so it will be interesting to see how long it takes him to get into the team.
