The transfer window is still open for loan moves between Premier League and Football League clubs, but usually we would see youngsters going on loan down the divisions.
Manchester United have been linked with every right winger going in the past few weeks so Ismaila Sarr’s name was always going to come up, but it looks like the move might not be completely dead.
The Manchester Evening News have confirmed that United are interested and there’s still a chance that a loan move could be agree with Watford.
The loan window doesn’t close until the 16th of October so there’s some time to do this, but Watford want a permanent deal so that could be the problem here.
The report suggests that United want to take him on loan with an option to buy of around £25m which sounds like a fair price, so it might come down to the player putting some pressure on The Hornets.
You also wonder if things might change if that option to buy is turned into an obligation or if some more money is included in the deal.
Sarr was one of the leading lights in a dreadful campaign last year so he’s proven he can perform at the highest level, but it would be a huge ask to do it with the added pressure that would come with a move to Old Trafford.
There’s a feeling that United are just throwing a lot of signings at the wall in the hope that some of them stick, but this is one to keep an eye on for sure.
