It would probably be quicker to list the wingers that Man United haven’t tried to sign on deadline day, as the club’s chaotic approach to transfers has been laid bare.
Edinson Cavani appeared from nowhere and it was clear that he’s a late panic purchase, while this move is even more bizarre because work permit issues mean he won’t be able to sign until January:
It’s not all bad news for United because Traore is a supremely talented player who’s been talked up a lot in recent months, so hopefully this move does pay off in the long term.
He’s still only 18 and he’s barely played a lot of first team football so it’s not fair to expect him to come in and change things, but he should at least provide an impact option from the bench when he arrives.
The fans will still be demanding some players who can actually help the team now, but this looks like a smart piece of business.
